The financial and technology industries are becoming more sustainable, but what lies ahead? Alessandra Sollberger, an impact entrepreneur, and investor, shares how impact investing can make a positive difference in the world.

Impact entrepreneurship and investing is a world of circular opportunity. Put simply, impact investing is investments that are made with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.

Our podcast guest, Alessandra Sollberger, is an impact entrepreneur and investor specializing in Blockchain technology; a distributing service for cryptocurrency. Sollberger sits at the intersection of technology and finance, as she puts it, which gives her a unique insight into the world of impact funding. She believes that this is the way forward for companies as circular investing ensures equal opportunity and environmental preservation.

Sollberger assures us that in the future we will look back and question why unsustainable investing was so widespread, “In a few years we will look back and say, wait we were doing unsustainable investing, what is that?” Global impact investing has already become mainstream within the industry, and in the following years, these revolutionary ideas of sustainable investing will continue to trickle down into mass awareness.

Would you like to learn more about impact marketing?

One major trend Sollberger mentions is education and the expansion of the market. It wasn’t too long ago that investors had very few outlets for investing in sustainable ventures. Now, the tools and outlets are available for investors to fund what matters.

Impact Entrepreneurship

More availability of education also allows more people from many different markets to enter the global impact investment sphere. This provides more equal opportunities and for some, an all-important road to financial wellbeing, “I love to see the knowledge exchange amongst different countries,” Sollberger shares, “From what I’ve observed, success in the industry comes down to the people behind (the industry) making things happen.”

Sollberger also stresses the importance of being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to impact investing. “I think by now it’s really seen it as inevitable. How are we going to be seen as sustainable? Pressure is coming from all corners and it’s better (for them) to be seen as proactive rather than reactive. It’s better both for image and for corporate planning.”

The changes in social responsibility happening now are reflective of the new direction the industry is heading in. By planning and moving with the change, companies and entrepreneurs can make a greater social impact, improve their own financial state, and help the planet.
